We will explore healthy strategies for sleeping, driving and optimize your workstation before surgery so that you have a game plan to follow after your surgery. Technology has us spending too much time in collapsed upper back posture. Collapsed upper back posture causes collapsed pelvis posture which places excessive stress through the upper and lower lumbar spine. Movements from collapsed pelvis posture results in increased inflammation and pain post-surgery which negatively impacts your recovery. Improving your posture before your upcoming back surgery will reduce the amount of times you perform a task with collapsed pelvis posture. This reduces inflammation in the back which is the main source of pain, facilitating a more complete recovery. You will accomplish the following physical wellness milestones. • Sit without faulty loading in the neck and shoulders. • Stand with symmetrical loading through the neck and shoulders. • Walk with symmetrical loading through the neck. • Get in/out of bed and chair healthy loading through the neck. • Pick objects off the floor using a hip hinge strategy to keep neutral spine alignment. • Lift objects overhead with a 2-part lifting strategy to ensure healthy loading through the shoulders and neck.
